New Distrib release: Distrib 4.16

More control with improved Tracking & Tracing in Distrib 4.16

With the release of the 4.16 version of Distrib, Pcdata has expanded its warehouse management system (WMS) even further. Hundreds of bakeries throughout the world can now benefit from improved track & trace options and from mobile solutions for final distribution and loading procedures. These new options guarantee even more accurate information, increased efficiency, more convenience and additional flexibility in the workplace.

The track & trace function in Distrib 4.16 has been further refined. Bakeries can now monitor all stages of product processing and distribution with even more precision. This is done by allocating a unique production batch number to each stack of crates. The batch number can be linked to specific production-related information on the bread or pastries stored in a stack, for example the production line or cutting line number.

More grip and more efficiency

During the production process, Distrib accurately registers all operations that are performed for each stack. It does so by applying unique production batch numbers that inextricably link all production-related details to the products until the customer takes receipt of them. In the case of an incident involving one of the production lines, the bakeries will now know exactly which production batch numbers were involved and to which of their customers the products in question were delivered.

In addition, efficiency during operations is improved. Most bakeries can generate batch numbers in their existing product registration systems, but never has this been as convenient as with Distrib. Finally, the system also offers improved options with which to generate track & trace data. An extensive set of traceability reports makes it possible to easily retrieve all relevant information on product, batch number, customer or route. The intuitive click-through function allows for the quick and effective tracking of each product.

Mobile version of Dock Manager

For years, bakeries all over the world have relied on Dock Manager to ensure a flawless truck-loading process. Distrib 4.16 now features a mobile version of this module, in which the fixed docking gate bar code scanners are replaced by a mobile terminal. The loading process is monitored by scanning the bar code on the stack and the bar code next to the docking gate. If and as soon as an employee selects the wrong docking gate, the mobile terminal immediately issues an error warning.

One of the main advantages of Mobile Dock Manager is the cost-efficiency it provides. With this version, bakeries no longer need to invest in a fixed scanner and display for each docking gate. A single mobile terminal for each loading dock worker suffices.  The level of investment can therefore be reduced by a considerable amount, especially for warehouses with multiple docking stations. The intelligent monitoring options incorporated in Distrib guarantee bakeries considerably fewer delivery errors and therefore even fewer complaints from customers.

Mobile solution for final distribution

In addition to loading procedures, Distrib 4.16 now also provides a mobile solution for final distribution (the ‘end dispatcher’). Normally speaking, a fixed terminal that grants the distributor access to Distrib is placed at the beginning of the distribution line. With the Mobile End Dispatcher, the fixed terminal is replaced by a mobile terminal that supports barcode scanning. The worker uses this mobile terminal to scan the barcode on the stack of crates and to enter the quantity, after which the displays in the distribution line light up.

The main advantage of the Mobile End Dispatcher is best demonstrated when a stack intended for the customer reaches its maximum number of crates and the dispatcher wants to attach a label with the content for example for the registration in Dock Manager. Until now, the final distributor always had to return to the fixed terminal to print a label for the stack in question. The Mobile End Dispatcher allows the distributor to stay where he is and to print a label from a mobile printer attached to his belt. As a result, valuable time is saved in the distribution process.
